Facebook.com was dreamed up in February 2004 by a former Harvard student. Facebook started out as a Harvard only website, but then began the slow crawl outward, first to Boston University then Boston College and so on. This growth became exponential until every person with a university e-mail address was allowed to participate Facebook. Facebook.com even expanded as far as to let high schools join the network (there are many ways how to unblock facebook). Upwards of forty two million users are now a part of facebook.com. Estimates put its number at sixty million by the end of 2007.
